Back from Cath Lab

Noah is back from cath lab and resting. I have spoken with his surgeon about the results. I am still waiting to speak with the Cardiologist. The internal surgical site looked very good and no suspect areas were visualized. There were no extra blood vessels from his aorta to his lung that required treatment. This news was taken indifferently. I am very pleased to hear that no abnormalities were found; however, if one was present, it may have been an answer. An intervention was done in the cath lab. He already had a graft from his vena cava to his heart placed during his surgery. This acts as a passageway to decrease some pressure in his lungs by diverting blood to his heart. There was an area that was narrow so it was ballooned. They also stopped the gentle suction setting on his chest tube. We are hopeful that his healing and the changes today will slow down the drainage.
Noah did have a good morning. He smiled and laughed a little. He wanted to drink but we could not let him. We played mean doggie, Thomas the train, and talked about his and Isabel's birthday parties.
It is 850 now and Noah has been awake for 1.5hrs. He was Hungry and ate good. He said his belly hurt and stopped. Now he points to his belly pain and it where his tubes are and not his stomach. When he eats his belly pushes on the tube area and causes pain. I know he wants to eat more but is limited. He did not say a thing about being nauseous. He has a NG tube and will begin some feeding that way, small consistent volumes, not like 3 big meals a day to decrease pain, nausea, etc. After eating Isabel called and we all spoke to her. Then, of all things he wanted to watch Hello Kitty, quickly followed by Baby Einstein.
We still have a dreaded dressing change to do tonight, then I pray he will sleep great like yesterday.

I forgot to mention that Carlos came back to Charleston yesterday. We are very happy he is here. Nancy, Madalena, and Isabel are coming in Thursday and Charles, Alice, and Anna Mae will be in Friday. Dan, Bridget, and Family will be in Charleston on the weekend and we are looking forward to visiting with them Saturday. Thank you to everyone for all of your love and support!
