All Aboard

Sunday (7/26) was a better emotional day for us. Noah got back into the wagon and was at the atrium first thing. He calls it the train room. He was not reluctant to go, as in the past. When he arrived he said, "I want to play." He sat upright in the wagon and played for 2 hours before returning to the ICU.
Once back he had his mediastinal chest tube removed! Good riddance! He said bye to his sissy and both grandmothers who had to go back to Greenville. They will be missed. Noah then took a long mid afternoon nap. More of a sleep than a nap.
Evening, my turn! I wanted to go for a wagon ride and so did he. I am happy for his increased interest. He only wanted to go to the train room. Unfortunately it is closed for the night. Thus, we ventured to the chair for more playtime. He still is not very interested with tabletop playing from the chair. We decided to watch some more movies. I pulled up a chair and he leaned on my shoulder. When he grew tired of this he thought I would simply put him back in bed. Not this time little engine. You have to chug a few steps to the bed. I cleared his tracks and off he went. He blew steam the entire time, but arrived on time.
From there we had our standard night: bath, dressing change, stopping the early am x-ray, and comforting him to sleep. More comfort needed today as he did not like his bath and dressing change. He was a little teary eyed. Possibly more worn out from the increased activities. He dozed off at 1145pm. Again he has had a very restful night. Very few awakenings, and back to sleep in <15 minutes or so. He will need the rest because we have a big day planned. Full steam ahead!
He has slacked off with his eating. Couple of reasons for this: constipation and gas pain and tube feeds. We are hoping that when the constipation and gas clear this will no longer be an issue. The Drs. do not appear to be alarmed with this. We are still waiting for his drainage to decrease. No real ground made up over the weekend, though we remain optimistic. All aboard, this all terrain engine is chugging forward, "toot" "toot" (the more the merrier)!
