Gentleman, Start Your Engines

Monday (7/27) has been one of our better family days. It started early with a positive feeling of: we are doing this! We new what we wanted to accomplish today and the nurses and Drs. were all in.
Noah woke up happy and said he would take some bites of food. He did, only 2. Two down and 2 right back up including his feeding tube. We replaced it and through all of this he remained happy. The medicine team saw him early and basically said get him up and active. The nurse was already prepared to get us to the play room first thing and Noah wanted to go.
He had some visitors at the playroom that made him shy at first. Then he was glad to play cars with Stephanie, Bryan, Jason and Susan F., and Aaron. Dad had to say bye to go sleep while everyone played. It is nice to have family back in town again.
After the playroom he had some tummy pain. He was easily comforted by Mommy and slept in her healing arms for 2.5hrs. Still happy he ate some dinner and played with Mommy until she had to go. Noah and Dad had their best evening of play. He was fine with getting in the chair and asked for his toy tray. He played with cars, play-doh, puzzles, and a coloring book. He even told me a joke! We played much more with toys than watching Tom and Jerry. He had some tummy pain so he wanted to rest. He walked back to his bed where we did the standard bath and dressing change. He also got a strong laxative that worked! Flexing his stomach made him spit up some. Afterwards, he was still smiling and happy. He wanted to read a book and again said his prayers out loud. We watched Nemo and then he turned to fall asleep while I rubbed his back.
We are happy for today. Noah was in very good spirits. He wanted to play, he was interested in eating, and he was more talkative. We got to see family and spend evening time with them. Our minds rested some today as he did well. We still have our goals of drainage, eating, and tummy pain but today they appeared closer.
We really believe that he is feeling better. The track is dry and the rain delay is over. The green flag is flapping above the speedway and once again there is a fever amongst the crowd. This race is back underway.
