Superstition

Every time we want to report that his drainage has gone down, it would go back up. Needles-to-say, we have become superstitious about reporting decreases until they have been established. Noah's drainage has sharply decreased. We anticipate the removal of one of his chest tubes tomorrow due to low drainage. Which one you ask? I favor the Arab's prediction. The right side has dribbled only 5mls over the past 36hrs. A chest x-ray will be done tomorrow and if all is dry the right side will be removed. That is good since that side has been more tender to him lately.
Noah also has the freedom of not needing IV replacement fluid since the drainage has slowed. Beforehand, all that came out was matched 50% and put back in. His pain meds are only as needed now and consists of ibuprofen and acetaminophen. His tummy is less distended and seems less painful. He had a good poopy today. We hope it pressed the reset BUTTon and gets him back on a regular schedule. Noah has been playing well and venturing into new areas of the play room. His shell is coming off.
In fact, things looked so good today that it was the first time the Drs. said the "H" word. You got it - Hippocrates......the father of medicine. As a group we took the Hippocratic Oath out loud. Noah is now a doctor. Its pretty cool; he wrote me a prescription for oxycontin. Party time! Surprising to us they said we are on the down slope and may be HOME in a week. The writing is on the wall, nothing more to say.
