October Fun

October has been one busy month. We were busy almost every weekend. We started off the month with our monthly Supper Club crew. We took a break from cooking and went out to Liberty Tap Room as group. We then continued the fun at John's sister's club, the Sugar Shack. This time the girls ruled the night by dancing and having a great time. I think the guys enjoyed watching the girls have fun and be crazy for once.

The next day we took the boat out on Lake Jocassee. We had a beautiful Sunday early in October and took the kids out on the boat for the first time. We met our friends, the Layes (who also have a boat), out there too and had a great time exploring the lake and looking for waterfalls. At one point, we even crossed over into North Carolina on water. Pretty Cool! We can't wait until the warm weather again when we can actually get in the water and go tubing and skiing. The kids are really going to love that!





John and I made it out one evening to see Kathy Griffin, a comedian, at the Peace Center. I am a big fan! She is absolutely hilarious and a bit raunchy!! She is big on trashing celebrities, so you have to be up on your pop culture. John is a bit behind on current celebrity gossip, so he had a hard time following. I, on the other hand, love that stuff! It was a great evening and did I mention it was kid free!

Our next stop was the NASCAR race in Charlotte. We had a blast, but we were not expecting the cold weather. We tailgated with John's uncle, Jason and girlfriend, Susan and took the kids. As you know, Noah loves race cars, so this is something we were excited about taking him to. We enjoyed walking around to all the vendors and shopping for NASCAR gear. It was a night race, so we hiked over to the track around 7pm and the weather had gotten much colder and a bit misty. We were not very prepared for the cold, but fortunely we had 2 thin blankets we wrapped the kids in. We had headphones for the kids, so the loudness was not a problem. Before the race started, Noah was already pulling for the M&M car. What was neat was the M&M car was pink due to October's Breast Cancer awareness month, so Isabel and I rooted for the M&M car too. The race was 500 laps, but due to the weather (and the kids getting tired) we only stayed for 120 laps.




In between the fun, Noah had his 6 week cardiology follow up here in Greenville. He had his normal evaluations, Echo, EKG, etc and all is good. The doctor finally took him off of his Lasix, the medicine that makes him pee alot. This was Noah's least favorite medicine to take, so he was extremely happy to stop it.
Being the month of October, there were many fall festivals that we made it to. The kids got to dress up in their Halloween costumes and trick or treat before the actual holiday. On Halloween night, we did our annual Howard Halloween family party. Every year we make a pot of chilli and cornbread and invite our families over to celebrate Halloween with us. This year, we had a bigger crowd. Of course, we had YiaYia, Vovo, Vava and Jessie, Daniel, and Drew, but we also had John's brother Bryan and some friends, the Tokes, over. Our neighborhood is flooded with trick or treaters, so we spend the evening in the driveway around a fire pit and hand out candy to all the kids. It is a fun night, but unfortunetly this Halloween brought us rain. We were still out there, but stayed in the garage. The kids had about 30 minutes to trick or treat before the rain came. After that, Isabel just wanted to hand out candy to the soaked trick or treaters and Noah just wanted to eat all of his candy.




We had a great October, but look forward to a few relaxful weekends in November before the Holiday rush.
